Description
At a personal and professional crossroads, web artist Isabel Chang decided to quit her job and seek guidance in the Chinese temples and divination houses that dot lower Manhattan. Isabel captures this quest in Gods of Chinatown, the latest installment in the Lower East Side Tenement Museum’s Digital Artist in Residence Project (DARP), explores the temples and religious practices in Manhattan’s Chinese community. Gods of Chinatown is an interactive, playful work that explores both the artists’ identity as an immigrant and the role of religion and divination in immigrant communities.
