Dialtones (A Telesymphony) is a concert performance whose sounds are wholly produced through the choreographed ringing of audience member's mobile phones. Participants register their mobile phone numbers at a series of web terminals; new ringtone melodies are transmitted to their phones, and their seating assignment tickets are generated. Performers use custom software to call many phones simultaneously, creating a diverse range of unprecedented sonic phenomena such as waves of polyphony that cascade across the audience.
